Purcell Marian High School - Welcome Home Football Legend Roger Staubach

Cincinnati, Ohio > Purcell Marian High School Wiki

Few football players have ever generated the kind of excitement on the field that Roger Staubach did every time he took a snap from the center. A 1960, Purcell graduate, Staubach played his entire eleven years of professional football for the Dallas Cowboys. During eight of those eleven years, he was the starting quarterback, leading his team to four Super Bowls, bringing home the victory cup for Super Bowls VI and XII. His exemplary pro career was justly rewarded when in his first year of eligibility; he was inducted into the Football Hall of Fame.

Staubachs football career began in Cincinnati, Ohio where he played for Purcell High School. He continued on at the Naval Academy where as a junior in 1963, he received college footballs top honor, the Heisman Trophy. He is the only Naval Midshipman to win the Thompson Trophy Cup for best all around athlete for three consecutive years.

Staubachs winning attitude has spelled success for him both on and off the field. During footballs off-season, he worked for the Henry S. Miller Company. In 1977, he began his own business, The Staubach Company, where he serves today as the CEO and Chairman of the Board. Like Staubach himself, his company is known for its unparalleled standard of ethical business practices, providing full service innovative real estate solutions for clients.

Mr. Staubach is involved in many community and charitable organizations. He is currently on the Board of AMR Corporation, Brinker International and "Power UP: Bridging the Digital Divide". He also serves on the Board of Advisors of the Childrens Scholarship Fund.

On February 17th, 2003, Purcell Marian High School will proudly honor one of its finest with the prestigious Brother Lawrence Eveslage Award for distinguished Alumni. Brother Eveslage was Purcells principal from 1968-1976. Brother Eveslages life was committed to the principles of the Marianist tradition. Staubachs commitment to excellence and his dedication to service make him the obvious choice to receive the Brother Eveslage Award.
